LIVONIA, Mich., April 26, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — CDS Foundation hosted an “After Work Appreciation Reception” held at Laurel Manor Banquet Center in Livonia, Wednesday April 24TH for it’s host committee, volunteers, sponsors and donors who contributed to the Annual CDS Foundation “Wild Game Dinner” and “Tino’s Farm Family Picnic” held this past year.
CDS FOUNDATION MISSION STATEMENT

Keynote speaker, Katie Olex, Director of “Livonia Save Our Youth Coalition” spoke about how LSOY educates and empowers the local and surrounding communities addressing the issues that affect the health and safety of our youth with a focus on alcohol and other drugs.
President of CDS Foundation, Richard Asztalos, presented LSOY with a donation of $1000. to help with expenses for up an coming events, such as the parent training program. Asztalos, expressed the need to have awareness in the community and how CDS Foundation will partner with LSOY by participating in LSOY 7th Annual Run 2 Save Our Youth presented by theLivonia Police Department. In turn, Katie Olex promised support of Livonia Save Our Youth Coalition for CDS Foundation.
Other recipients of appreciation at the “Appreciation Reception” received plaques of appreciation for direct donations toward the building of the substance transition facility on Tino’s Farm. Donations from CDS Foundation of $5000 each went to Botsford Hospital Foundation in Farmington and St. Mary”s Mercy Hospital, Our Lady of Hope Cancer Center in Livonia, from proceeds of the 20TH Annual Wild Game Dinner held January 25, 2013
Asztalos, stated that our first stage goal of $500,000 is now at 1/3 complete, just within this past year. Everyone I talk to thinks our facility will serve the community well and more importantly, if it can save one person, it can save a family. Once a family member, son, daughter, husband, wife or friend is in trouble with a substance addiction, the whole family suffers. We are in an epidemic of substance abuse and lives are being lost from brain damage, suicides, over doses resulting in death. We have to try, be aware, stop the denial, not my kid, it their friends or where the go to school, it’s just easier to blame.
To learn more about awareness, come to one of our events, pick up some literature, find out what a Pharm-Party is. Ask your children, they know, they know who uses drugs or sells them.
